the story
Every night, Dorvil climbs a silk scale to join Giulia her secret wife. Their romance, already threatened by the curiosity of Lucilla and by the valet Germano, might come to an end when Dormont, Giulia’s guardian, pledged her in marriage to Blansac, Dorvil’s rich and dearest friend. The secret lovers try to escape the plot by all means till a final secret rendez-vous where every character will attend.

Rossini was a twenty-years-old composer in 1812 when the Teatro San Moisè ordered him the Scala di seta. Famous for its theatrical music that takes part to the comical features of the plot, this farsa comica set the ground to bel canto’s masterpieces of the XIXth century.
